I edited this hype video using footage captured by our full JMU Athletics Creative Services team. Washington State was a first-time opponent and the game was Marvel-sponsored, which made choosing a story direction uniquely challenging. With no history between the teams, and a lot of Marvel content already circulating, I focused on creating a superhero energy without relying on the obvious theme.

I chose a track with a bold, cinematic feel and built the edit around Coach Chesney’s speech from the week prior, letting his words drive the aggressive tone. The team was on an intense win streak, so I used iso shots and high energy celebrations to portray our players as “hunters” to match Chesney’s speech. This piece was a blast to cut and an exciting way to hype fans for one of the most anticipated games of the season.
